The Pig Flu

Hello all! 

I wanted to let you all know, I'm pretty sure you've all heard, that the Pig Flu is going around Mexico. It was mainly in Mexico City D.F. area, but it is moving north of the country towards us. There have been reported cases in Monterrey (4 hours from San Pedro) and a few in Saltillo (2 hours from us). 

Schools, from elementary to university, have been closed today by order of President Calderón until May 6th. This is a safety measure taken by the government. Yesterday, all soccer games were played closed-door (without an audience) due to the flu going around. The government is trying to do all they can to contain and cure this flu. They need God's wisdom and guidance!

Keep us in your prayers as many people are very fearful here. Pray that this might be an opportunity for God to show His power and that people might come to know Him. 

We at the church are being careful, not fearful. We are reminded of the many plagues that hit Egypt before the great exodus. Although there were many bad things going on, we all know that the children of God were not harmed by those plagues. He kept His hand over them throughout it all. The same thing holds true today. God takes care of His children. His protecting hand is over us, keeping us from harm and allowing His gospel to be spread farther than any flu!

(Sorry about not having an update about the camp. As you can see, things have been very busy and different here. Camp 2009 went very well! Everyone says it was the best camp ever. I will try to post some pictures so you all can see the faces of those you prayed for. I want to post a summary of what went on during this camp as well, God Willing.)
